Michelle Smith Cotto joined Engage in March 2024 as an Assistant General Counsel and HR Consultant.
Michelle graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law and is licensed in Massachusetts and
admitted as authorized house counsel in Connecticut.
Prior to joining Engage, Michelle served as in-house counsel in the health and financial industries for over a
decade and held roles as chief legal and human resources officer and compliance officer at two community
health centers in Connecticut. Michelle has worked in the banking, healthcare, health plan, property
casualty insurance and surety bond industries. Michelle was a contributing author to the surety and
probate bond industry manual. Michelle’s experience includes litigation and outside counsel management,
drafting property & casualty and bond policy language, HR & employee relations, and employee training,
apprising senior management teams of legal and regulatory risks and drafting policies and procedures.
